Unsearchable
Riches
UNSEARCHABLE, a. unserch'able. That cannot
be searched or explored; inscrutable; hidden; mysterious.
Ephesians 3:8 Unto me, who am less than
the least of all saints, is THIS grace given, that I should preach
among the Gentiles the UNSEARCHABLE riches of Christ;
In Ephesians Chapter 3 Paul is talking
about a mystery which was never before revealed. Webster, above, says
that a thing which is unsearchable cannot be searched or explored. It
is inscrutable, hidden, mysterious.
This mystery Paul relates here could not
be searched out in the Old Testament. It cannot be found in Matthew,
Mark, Luke and John, and it is not seen in the book of Acts.
This mystery has to do with the salvation
of the likes of you and me. Paul says that in time past we had no part
in God's promises. He says that we were without God and without hope in
the world, in Ephesians 2:11-12. But then he adds:
Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye
who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
By Paul's doctrine in the book of
Ephesians we have redemption when we trust in Jesus Christ:
Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption
through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of
his grace;
On the
cross of Calvary Jesus Christ suffered, he shed his blood, he died for
our sins. He was raised again for our justification. Salvation is a
GIFT:
Ephesians
2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians
2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
The YE in the verse above refers to people
like you and I who in time past had no hope because we were not aligned
with God's chosen people, the nation of Israel. Paul says that we were
aliens and strangers.
So there
was a MYSTERY which in time past was UNSEARCHABLE. It was never written
about until Paul wrote about it as the Lord Jesus Christ revealed it to
him.
Ephesians
3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I
wrote afore in few words,
Ephesians
3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the
mystery of Christ)
Ephesians
3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it
is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
So the unsearchable riches of Christ were
made known to the Apostle Paul for us today. THIS grace was given to
Paul to preach among the Gentiles:
Ephesians
3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery,
which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created
all things by Jesus Christ:
Trust
Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and salvation is complete! When
it is complete it is done. Nothing more needed, ever.
Colossians 2:10 And ye are complete in
him, which is the head of all principality and power:
